26 May is often linked with discussions around technology, digital transformation, modern lifestyle changes, and the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence on human life. As the world becomes faster and more connected, this day feels like the right moment to pause and ask an important question: Are we becoming more advanced, or simply more exhausted?
Every morning starts the same for most people now.
The alarm rings. The phone is checked before the eyes are fully open. Notifications. Emails. News. Reels. Messages. Deadlines. Trends. Opinions. Noise.
The world is moving at a speed no generation has ever seen before.
Technology has made life easier. Artificial Intelligence is changing the way we work. Social media has connected the world. Food arrives in minutes. Meetings happen online. Friendships exist through screens. Businesses run from mobile phones.
Everything is becoming faster.
But somewhere between all this speed, a silent question is growing louder:
Are people actually happy anymore?
We are more connected, yet more lonely.
We are more informed, yet more confused.
We are more entertained, yet mentally exhausted.
A few years ago, people waited for weekends to relax. Today even weekends feel like another task to complete. People are constantly updating life instead of actually living it.
Social media made comparison a daily habit.
Someone is always travelling.
Someone is always earning more.
Someone is always fitter, happier, richer, smarter, more successful.
And slowly, happiness stopped becoming a feeling. It became a performance.
People smile for pictures while silently fighting anxiety. They post motivational quotes while struggling to sleep at night. They celebrate achievements publicly but feel emotionally empty privately.
Even children are growing up faster than they should.
A child today knows how to swipe a screen before learning patience. Teenagers are under pressure to look perfect, speak perfectly, and succeed quickly. Adults are burned out trying to keep up with a life that never slows down.
Artificial Intelligence is now writing content, creating art, answering questions, and even replacing human effort in many areas. It is powerful. It is useful. But it also raises another uncomfortable question:
If machines are becoming more efficient every day, what is happening to human emotions?
People are slowly losing simple moments.
Sitting without checking a phone.
Talking without recording it.
Eating without taking a picture.
Watching rain without making a reel.
The world taught us how to stay busy.
But nobody taught us how to stay peaceful.
Maybe happiness was never hiding in speed.
Maybe it was always in slower things:
- A real conversation
- An uninterrupted dinner with family
- Sleeping peacefully
- Laughing without filters
- Having fewer notifications and more presence
- Feeling mentally calm instead of digitally active
Success today is often measured by followers, income, views, productivity, and visibility.
But perhaps real success is becoming rare:
A healthy mind.
A peaceful heart.
And a life where you do not need to escape from reality every night.
The world will continue to run faster. Technology will continue to grow. AI will become smarter.
But human happiness may still depend on old-fashioned things:
love, rest, silence, connection, and meaning.
Maybe the real luxury in 2026 is not speed.
Maybe it is peace.
